Hi, my name is Romeo!

My name is Romeo and I'm 6 months old. I know you are thinking, "How does a 6 month old write a blog. My Mommy helps me a bit. The thoughts are mine but since I don't have fingers I have to depend on her for her typing skills. She would do anything for me so it's cool.

I was born on January 9th and had 7 brothers and sisters. I was confused because we all looked different. A couple of us were black like me and a couple of were brown, some were black and white, and we even had a fawn in there - not the deer kind - it means fawn in color. My birth mom was black and my birth dad was brown. How those other yahoos got in the litter is beyond my understanding. All I do know is that we are all Newfoundlands, better know as Newfies. Dad weighs 170 pounds so I'm guessing I'm not going to be a lap dog.

My real Mommy and Daddy came to visit me on Valentine's Day. I fell in love with them right away. My birth mom was not real interested in us but my Mommy and Daddy hugged and kissed me. I felt really loved for the first time in my life. I was upset when they left but Mommy promised she would be back when I was old enough to take home so I waited patiently.

The day finally came and Mommy picked me up with her friend, Lisa. Lisa drove home so Mommy could cuddle me. I really liked the way she smelled and held me safe and sound. We stopped and dropped off Lisa and I met the strangest dog I have ever seen. Her name was Lilly and she was small and brown and it looked like someone stretched her belly like a gumby doll. She was sweet and we played a bit before Mommy took me to my new home. We went into this big red barn and Daddy showed up with this other strange looking dog. Cheyenne was big and fast and was really happy to see me. Daddy carried me up to the house and Cheyenne and I got to know each other under Mommy's watchful eye. Mommy decided I needed something called a bath because she said I stunk. I didn't notice it but she insisted on this ritual. Mommy put me in the kitchen sink, soaped me up, rinsed me off, and then cuddled me in a towel. I guess it wasn't too bad.

The rest of the night was all about me. I was fed, played with by everyone, and introduced to my new bed. It was kind of big and scary but Mommy put a comfy blanket in there and pet me for hours while I got comfortable. I found out I have a human sister, as well as the furry one, and four brothers. Seems like Mommy and Daddy had a litter too.

At this time of my life I was 8 weeks old and weighed 8 pounds. Everyone held me and I was the center of the world. I was thinking I could get used to this. I especially liked this Mommy because she was all about making me feel happy. I heard her tell people she had been waiting for me for 30 years and I was her dream dog. No wonder she hadn't been able to find me because I was just born two months ago! Silly Mommy.
