I know what I want to be when I grow up!
Everyone keeps telling me what a nice puppy I am. Most people don't even believe I am still a puppy, but I am. As a young pup, I need to start thinking how I am going to spend the rest of my life. I want to make a difference in the world. Mommy started checking into the TDI therapy dog association and is teaching me what I need to know to pass the test. It will be a piece of cake.
have to like people - check
have to behave in a crowd - check
have to walk on loose leash - check
have to sit and stay - check
have to come when called - check
have to like other dogs - check
have to have groomed appearance - check (have you seen my silky coat?)
They won't let me test until I am 1 year old in January (dumb). Mom, Dad, and I are going to practice until then so I will be ready (I already am). I will be able to help sick and sad people. I think I can handle hanging out with people that want to cuddle with me, Mom and I do it all the time.
I also have a new sister, Anna. She is really nice and I am happy she is staying with us for a while. Plus, I get to use her room to hide my bones now. She is pretty good at finding them but she gives them back to me. Cheyenne is the one I don't want to find them. I just figured out that I can take things from Cheyenne now because I am bigger than she is. I get a kick out her because she growls like she is big and tough, but she is really all growl no action. She is still faster than me and knocks me on my butt when I'm not looking. The bigger I get, the stronger I get so she better watch out!
Hope to see you soon!

It's a dog's life for me!
Charlie weighed me today and I am 78 pounds. I will be 7 months old on Monday. I am officially bigger than Cheyenne now. She may be faster but I have been pretty successful at knocking her on her butt these days (hehe).
Mom and Dad have been building something in the backyard. Mommy calls it a pool and she gets inside but I can't see her when she is in there. I don't like stairs so Mommy is on her own on this one. Daddy puts some grass around the pool and it is now my favorite place to go potty. Mom keeps picking it up off my grass, so I just have to go again. She just doesn't get it sometimes. We used to spend all of our time in the front yard but now we hang out in the back. It is fun because there are a lot of new smells. I like smelling things, except when I smell dogs on Mommy; that upsets me. Today, when Mommy got home from the fair, I smelled some animals I had never smelled before. I really didn't like that! She is MY Mommy.
It has cooled off a little outside and I really like it because my black fur really holds in that heat. When we walk on our trail, Cheyenne and I don't get as tired when it is cooler and we can run more. On hot days all we want is back in the air conditioned house and some water. Mom always gives me ice from the fridge - that is my favorite!
This is how I spend my summer days, walks with Mom, smelling new smells, eating ice, wrestling with Cheyenne, and taking naps. Like I said before, more humans need to take some lessons from us dogs. We know how to live it up.

People are weird!
I've spent the past six months of my life (all of my life) watching people and trying to figure out how they think. I am thinking they spend a lot of time doing things to just keep themselves busy. A good rawhide bone and a run in the park would do many of these people some good. They need to start paying attention to us dogs and learn how to really live.
Let's take Mommy, she keeps picking things up and cleaning the house. Hasn't she figured out it just gets dirty all over again and who really cares? Cleaning is a total waste of time. She needs to spend more time playing with me. She sits with this picture thing on her lap and gets mad when I slobber on it because I want her to pet me. Petting me is so much more fun than that picture box. She is always dancing in the living room to that box on the wall. I think she needs to go for a run with me. She would get exercise and it would be so much more fun.
Daddy talks to himself all the time. He holds this rectangular device to his ear and talks to the air. I don't hear the words outside, treat, Romeo, Cheyenne, or Rastro come out of his mouth. He needs to talk to Cheyenne and I because we will really, really listen. The best thing about Daddy is he shares his food. I would be a lot happier if he made me a plate like he makes himself, but as long as he shares I can live with that.
People need to spend more time giving each other belly rubs, taking naps during the day, and chasing frisbees. They spend too much time going places in those icky cars and watching things that are not real. I'm going to have to start training my people to relax a bit. This may take a long time with my family.
